Episode 21: Paris is Burning

By: Ian Rose | April 29th, 2008

No, film buffs … we will not be talking about the drag documentary, but Paris St. Germain is a main topic of discussion this week, as Ligue 1 faces the very real possibility of losing its only Parisian club, and its fans go a little insane. Inara from the Lyon Offside brings us up to date on PSG’s relegation fight, as well as answering listener questions about Lyon players, present and future.

Meanwhile, we hear from Ryan about all things EspaƱa, including Spanish reactions to Barcelona’s first leg Champions League draw with Man United, and the continuing drama at Valencia. And lest we forget the other big continental club tournament going on right now, Christian Reyes brings us up to speed on the upcoming knockout rounds of the Copa Libertadores.

My apologies if we didn’t get to your question this week. We got to as many as we could, and if we didn’t answer yours, we’ll try to talk about that subject on the next podcast. Keep the questions and suggestions coming.

As always, you can listen to the show on the player below, or subscribe using our feed, and you are of course more than welcome as well to join us on our group on Facebook. As always, thanks for listening.

My question for next week, which you sorta touched on this week is; if you have Ryan on again, is why he thinks that Spain has so much parity this season – is it just a fluke season? Or do you think there’s a chance it’ll repeat itself next year?

Haha! I loved how Ian had to calm me down when I called the Superclasico the biggest derby in the world :)

Maybe we should refer to it as one of the Big 4 rivalries, af the heated, LA derby.

I don’t know, Christian. How can the Superclasico be a big rivalry if it doesn’t even have a name sponsor? :P
