Our latest winner, and next week’s show
By: Ian Rose | April 25th, 2008Hello everybody. Congratulations to the latest predictor giveaway winner, Tim from Georgia, who took home a Russian national team jersey for his pick in the Bayern v. Zenit UEFA Cup match. We’ll have more giveaways soon, with more prizes from our prize sponsor, SoccerPro.com. The Champions League final is coming up, for example …
This coming week’s show is a milestone for us, our 21st episode. As with any 21st birthday, I imagine there will be some drinking involved, but I wanted to follow in the footsteps of some other podcasts and start opening the pod to questions and suggestions of subjects from our listeners. We’ll try it out, and see how it works, and like anything else, we’ll scrap it if it doesn’t.
On this week’s show, I’ll be joined by Ryan Knapp to talk about Spain, Inara to talk about France, and Christian Reyes to get us ready for the Copa Libertadores knockouts. If there are any subjects you’d like to ask them about, or anything in general about football you’d like us to talk about, leave it in the comments, or email me at podcast @ the offside . com. Thanks for listening.

*in Jerry Seinfeld voice* What’s the deal with Valencia? I mean they use to be good…

…and what’s the deal with those craaaaazy PSG fans? Are they nuts?

Oh, believe me, Inara will be all over the PSG situation this week. That’s the big story from France right now, without a doubt.

I have a couple of questions.
For Christian: Why does Riquelme always have trouble fitting into whatever team he plays for?
For Inara: Will Lyon always be a Champions League dark horse? What is the deal with Clement Grenier, Lyon’s latest exciting talent? And how can English clubs learn from France to improve their own youth systems?
For Ian: Will the SPL always be about the Old Firm?

For Inara - The Hatem Ben Arfa situation ( meaning his lack of first team play and the potential of him leaving ).
For Christian Reyes - How surprising is it that LDU Quito have made it to the Knock Out Stages ( Also keeping in mind that many see them as the best team in Ecuador ).

Continued…
Christian Reyes - And how far do you see LDU Quito going?

Matt, Ronald, Jon - Great questions, guys. I really want to start tailoring the podcast as much as possible around listener questions and subjects, so this feedback is really important to us. Thanks.

Dave: America joking aside, why is it that I hear the Commentators on FSE and talk show Futbol Picante discuss the South America vs Mexico during this Libertadores tourney? I hear things like refs not judging fairly, etc. In particular, Botinelli, in the last America match should have been kicked out of the game, on plenty of occasions. First for acting out against the ref, then for pushing Romano. The guy is good, don’t get me wrong, but he was throwing a fit left and right.

Hey Albert - I am off this week, but I am sure Christian fills in the gaps -
Personally? I have a ton of opinions on the commentators american side when it comes to south american analysis. Ill put my two bits in after chris does.
PEASH!

Yeah, Albert - Christian is definitely our primary Copa Libertadores man, and I’ll ask him about that this week. Thanks for the question.
