We haven’t stopped recording the Total Football Soccer Show, we’ve just stopped posting them here on Podcast Offside. The following information should help you find the show if you’re still keen to listen…

All our special World Cup preview shows can be found on one page over at World Cup Blog. We’ll also be doing two shows per week while the World Cup is on, and plan to post those shows on the World Cup Blog front page. In addition we’ve been doing some USA national team specific shows – like this one featuring interviews with Oguchi Onyewu, Jozy Altidore and Tim Howard and posting them on USA World Cup Blog.

The easiest (and best) way to find all future (and past) episodes of the Total Football Soccer Show is to either subscribe via iTunes, or by visiting the TFSS LibSyn homepage, both of which are regularly updated with new shows.

It’s Pledge Drive time on WRIR (the station where we record the podcast), so, in the immortal words of Rob Schneider, “Please give me money, I’m very hungry, Please give me money, So I can eat. I don’t have another job, This is what I do for a living. Please give me money, So I won’t starve.” As such, this week we took a break from previewing the World Cup to discuss some of our most enduring World Cup memories.

It’s Total Football Soccer Show episode #35, originally aired Thursday April 15th on WRIR 97.3, but now available as a podcast. It’s our World Cup 2010 Group E preview. We posted this on World Cup Blog last week, and sort of… forgot to post it here. Until just now. And by we, I mean me. Anyway…

In this 34th (can you believe that?) episode of the Total Football Soccer Show, originally broadcast Thursday, April 8th, 2010 on WRIR 97.3, we preview World Cup 2010 Group D. The four teams up for debate are: Australia, Germany, Ghana and Serbia.

Total Football Soccer Show – Episode 33 – World Cup 2010 Group C Preview

Editorial note: Apologies for the delay in getting this posted. We had a problem with our hosting site, and were unable to resolve it last week. We’ve moved to a new site, and have updated all the feed information for iTunes. Thus, in the short team, you may have some difficulty finding old episodes of the show (especially if you’re a new listener). Hopefully, it’s all sorted now and the delays will cease to be an issue. Anyway…

After taking a break from World Cup talk to preview the start of Major League Soccer, the boys are back in studio to discuss Group C (Algeria, England, Slovenia, and the USA). I tried to keep score of the sarcastic quips and passive-aggressive arguments relating to USA and England, but lost count when we hit triple digits.

Anyway, we once again utilize our highly scientific list of categories (nickname, coach, best players, key players, national anthem, World Cup/soccer history, qualification story, most compelling story, celebrity spokesperson, and best all-time player) to determine which two of the four possible teams would be progressing to the next round. Here’s who’s representing who:

Taylor: Slovenia
Daryl: England
Josh: Algeria
Albert: USA

Total Football Soccer Show #32: MLS 2010 Preview

I already posted this over on the main page, so won’t bore you with another introduction. Basically it’s four guys discussing MLS 2010. Josh, Albert, Daryl and Taylor are soccer fans who live in the US, aren’t massive MLS fans, but would love to see the league succeed. So there’s no debates about Kansas City Wizards’ strongest formation. It’s more along the lines of “would the Baltimore MLS expansion team be named the Omars?”

Last week we previewed World Cup Group A on the Total Football Soccer Show. So guess what we’re previewing this week? That’s right, it’s Romanian Liga 1. Not really. It’s World Cup 2010 Group B.

Once again, your four co-hosts take a team each, and we go through category by category to see who deserves to go through. Expect it’s not all about who has the best defenders and such. It’s also about who has the best national anthem and best team nickname. Here’s who’s representing who:

Taylor: Nigeria
Daryl: Greece
Josh: Argentina
Albert: South Korea

Total Football Soccer Show#30 – World Cup 2010 Group A Preview

World Cup 2010 is coming, and so we plan to preview all eight groups one episode at a time. First up is Group A, featuring South Africa, Mexico, France and Uruguay.

But these aren’t your standard previews. There’s none of that “team x has good strikers, so they’re going through…” laziness that passes for a preview these days. Well, almost none. Instead we have each of your four co-hosts representing one of the four teams.

Taylor: South Africa
Albert: Mexico
Josh: Uruguay
Daryl: France

We then go through various categories (like team nickname, national anthem, best ever player and so on) with each co-host making the case case for why their team should win that category. Taylor keeps score and at the end the points are tallied to reveal who won the group. As Albert says, it’s very scientific.

Total Football Soccer Show#29 – Pick-Up Soccer Special: Pelada Movie and Spoccer.com

Episode 29 of the Total Football Soccer Show is all about pick-up soccer.

You may remember the film Pelada from when we posted the trailer on The Offside front page. It’s a documentary movie in which two Americans travel the world playing pick-up soccer in 25 different countries. We interview the filmmakers/stars of Pelada, Gwendolyn Oxenham and Luke Boughen, and ask them what was involved in getting the movie made. All I’ll say is that they’re braver people than I’ll ever be.

Later in the show we interview Dave McKillen, founder of Spoccer, a group that arranges pickup games in various cities in the USA. If you ever wanted to hear an Englishman interview an Irishman about pickup soccer in America, then this is the show for you.

Total Football Soccer Show#28: USA 2-1 El Salvador

Episode 28 of the Total Football Soccer Show was a bit of a cheat, since it also doubled as the USA World Cup Blog Podcast. Basically we sat down and watched the USA beat El Salvador 2-1 in Tampa, Florida, a game which served as a final audition for multiple players on the fringes of the USA’s World Cup 2010 squad.

The performances of Brian Ching, Kyle Beckerman, Sacha Kljestan, Clarence Goodson, Robbi Findley, Jeff Cunningham and others were all up for discussion. Who increased their chances of a trip to South Africa and who can go ahead and book a vacation in early June?
