This week’s show is 100% Asian football. We don’t pretend to be experts. We don’t pretend that we didn’t do a lot of Wikipedia reading in the 24 hours before recording. But we feel like we’ve put together a nice little overview of Asian soccer, with a little entertainment too.

We also visit the Richmond Asian-American Indoor Soccer Tournament, learn how South Koreans feel about North Korea’s World Cup qualification, list our Top 5 Favourite Asian players and get a definitive(ish) answer to the eternal question: Is it Park Ji-Sung or Ji-Sung Park? As always (and love it or hate it) we close with a spelling bee. No prizes for guessing this week’s theme.

Apologies to those of you out there who subscribe to the iTunes feed. Amazingly enough, free hosting pages aren’t always the most reliable websites when it comes to streaming large files. Ah well… such is life… The podcast is back up and running, and just in time too, as we’re bringing you another excellent show this week.

Taylor and Daryl take a trip to the cinema and ponder why it is that so many soccer movies end up being letdowns (”Goal” Trilogy, we’re looking in your direction) and what directors might be up to the task of making a decent soccer-specific feature film.

Not trying to be too critical, we’ll also give you our Top 5 Soccer Movies and close with another installment The Spelling Bee, wherein Taylor hopes to close the increasingly large gap.

This week’s topic: retirement. When should players retire from professional football? And what are their options after hanging up their boots? Not everyone can take up polo like Batigol did. Though maybe more should.

Also, since not all players are keen to retire, we list our Top 5 Players who played into their forties, featuring dietary tips from Gordon Strachan (hint: it involves bananas and a masher).

Your intrepid co-hosts interview Cary Wright and Mark Tarin from the Central Virginia Soccer Association to discuss the history and inner-workings of a successful adult league.

We also preview the upcoming World Cup qualifying finale, and ask why no one in the USA or England can watch their teams play on good old-fashioned TV this Saturday.

This week’s show is dominated by a 14 minute behemoth of a Top 5.

Following the Manchester derby controversy (also discussed, inevitably, and in hindsight rather belatedly) we decided to list our top 5 “most interesting” derbies in world football, and why we find them so interesting.

To fit as many in as possible, we compared lists to avoid any duplication. Here’s what we ended up with:
