A captain is a leader, 100% committed to the team, and many other qualities, one of which is leading by example and commanding respect, John Terry has many of these qualities and it is debatable whether his actions off field should affect his actions on-field. No doubt opinion will be divided as demonstrated by the England manager and the Chelsea manager alike, Terry continues to captain the Chelsea side well and the fact they have won the premiership demonstrates that on the field the team are definitely behind him, The England captaincy for the World Cup may have cast uncertainty over the teams prospects. To discipline Terry over the England captaincy seems to be a moral judgement. A very dangerous precedent.
