Episode 19: Blatant Abuse of the 4-3-3

By: Ian Rose | April 16th, 2008

The podcast family widens a little as we welcome a new member to the crew. Red Bull New York Offsider Dave Martinez joins us for his first run out, to discuss his Bulls, as well as the rest of the MLS action this week. Don’t worry - there’s still plenty of European and South American chat as well, with Christian Reyes keeping us up to date on the Copa Libertadores and taking stock halfway through the Argentinian Clausura. Ryan Knapp discusses the limp, er, run in to the La Liga title, and the heartbreak of Eurogeta. And Inara’s back to discuss Lyon and the very real possibility of a huge French club going down to Ligue Deux. Comparisons between big clubs are drawn, and the choice of various clubs to put award-winning French center forwards onto the wing is harshly questioned.

For those of you that only love us for the presents, there’s also a brand new giveaway, and its dedicated to the new kid on the podcasting block. This Saturday, the Red Bulls host New England at Giants stadium, and whoever picks closest to the actual scoreline gets their choice of a Red Bulls or Revolution Adidas Teamgeist ball, from our friends over at SoccerPro.com. Just send your prediction for the final score (and halftime score, as a tiebreaker) to podcast [at ] theoffside.com. Easy as that.

As always, you can listen on the player below, or check out our feed to subscribe to the show. And, as puppet Jose would say, you can always start poking at us on the Facebook here. Thanks for listening.
