Episode 20: Champions League Semifinal Preview
By: Ian Rose | April 22nd, 2008It’s the most wonderful time of the year … perhaps not, but it’s pretty damned close. European football seasons, both domestic and continental, are coming to a close, and not far off over that horizon is the joy of Euro 2008. We focus on the big show this week, as the Champions League semifinals begin, and Anne Ramzy, Daryl Grove and Dave Martinez each give their picks for the eventual champion. I’d like to state for the record that mine was right on until the 95th minute, but there’s no accounting for John Arne Riise’s head. That’s why we play both legs, though.
We also talk about Man United’s razor-thin edge in the English Premiership, and the week that was in the MLS. Looking back on games like San Jose’s win over Colorado, we have to wonder - is the league suffering from its own near-perfect parity?
Also, you have until Thursday’s kickoff to enter our Bayern Munich / Russia jersey giveaway. If Matt wins two in a row and gets a big head about it, you only have yourselves to blame.

Yeah, Lucas, we’re trying to ease people into the whole US soccer thing, but I definitely should have added a bit about the awesome support at the Timbers game. It’s hard to cover everything, and no matter what we do, someone who listens is going to be disappointed their league didn’t get covered.
