The Total Football Soccer Show – Episode 6: “The Artist Formerly Known As Beckham Is Heading to the World Cup”
By: Taylor Rockwell | September 10th, 2009
And with this posting, I believe we’re up to date with all the backlogged Podcasts. Daryl and I stayed up late to get the final outcome on all of yesterday’s World Cup Qualifiers. Some big surprises, as Argentina stumble once again, Portugal keep their hopes alive, and the US National Team wakes up from a deep sleep, realize they’re playing in an actual match, score a goal, and then promptly return to their peaceful slumber.
Then, we call up Jack from The Chelsea Offside to get his thoughts on the Blues’ transfer ban, and what ramifications it will have on Roman Abramovich’s side. Being a United fan/blogger who’s spent the past week constantly clicking refresh on Soccernet to learn if United will be punished similarly, is eager to hear his thoughts.
Then it’s on to the Top 5 Bad Boys of Football, a topic which could also have earned the title “Top Alcoholics Who Played Football”, “Top 5 Sociopaths Who Were Paid an Exorbitant Amount of Money to Destroy Other Humans”, and “Top 5 People That Newcastle Would Probably Sign in a Pinch”.
We close it out with a La Liga themed spelling bee, which leaves one of the contestants preparing to lodge a formal complaint of his own with FIFA over suspect pronunciation. Tune in and enjoy! You can stream it, subscribe to the feed, or subscribe via iTunes.
As always, we encourage your feedback (whatever it may be), so feel free to post your comments below, email us at soccer@wrir.org, or join the Facebook craze that’s sweeping the nation! Thanks again for all the support!
