Total Football Soccer Show #9 – Major League Soccer (and Bouna Time!)
By: Daryl | October 1st, 2009
This week we focus on Major League Soccer, and ask why two US based footy fans don’t follow the league as closely as they probably should.
This episode was first broadcast on Thursday October 1st, 2009, on Richmond Independent Radio. To more knowledgeable MLS fans, some of the information in the show may seem very basic. But remember the show is intended for the uninitiated listener as well as the serious soccer fan.
Top 5 this week is also MLS themed, as we list our Top 5 Favourite Foreigners to play in Major League Soccer.

Teams will continue to play on NFL (American Football) fields as long as they can, Not every team has the following or revenue to build a soccer specific stadium although I see it becoming more of a requirement for new teams. As MLS picks better markets to start new teams.
The Salary cap is an interesting point, on one hand it keeps the teams competitive. From season to season fans can hope or dream that there teams will become competitive. That said it is hard for Giants to form within the league. The most successful league in the USA is NFL which features a Salary Cap. On the other hand being from Seattle with our team generating far more revenue than a lot of clubs. I for once have the chance to be that big market club.
