Total Football Soccer Show#15: Asian Soccer Special
By: Daryl | November 12th, 2009
This week’s show is 100% Asian football. We don’t pretend to be experts. We don’t pretend that we didn’t do a lot of Wikipedia reading in the 24 hours before recording. But we feel like we’ve put together a nice little overview of Asian soccer, with a little entertainment too.
We also visit the Richmond Asian-American Indoor Soccer Tournament, learn how South Koreans feel about North Korea’s World Cup qualification, list our Top 5 Favourite Asian players and get a definitive(ish) answer to the eternal question: Is it Park Ji-Sung or Ji-Sung Park? As always (and love it or hate it) we close with a spelling bee. No prizes for guessing this week’s theme.

Why does it make you physically ill? Do you not care about Asians or something? Do I smell a hint of back-handed racism?

Can you elaborate on that Al?

I think the role of the media in those places would be something you could’ve discussed. I remember in the early 90’s there was barely a mention of football.. these days its all over the place .. and so is the significance of Asian soccer, if you look at the historical perspective
In some countries other sports have played their part in soccer not being as popular..Cricket for eg in India, PakistanPosted from
